Chennai: The Kancheepuram police are probing a complaint in which an employee of a IT major said that she was assaulted by a conductor of a MTC bus on Wednesday when she asked him why the bus did not stop on scheduled stops on the IT highway aka Old Mahabalipuram Road.
According to the complainant, Deepika Balasubramanian, the incident happened on Wednesday and she lodged a complaint with the Kelambakkam police on Thursday against the conductor.
When the conductor of the bus route number 568 (TN 01 8271) refused to stop at the scheduled stop she confronted him. To this, he told her that during rush hours it is not possible to stop the bus at every stop.
She then started taking a video picture, asking if it was the official stand of MTC. The conductor then pushed the mobile phone to a side and slapped her, she said in her complaint.
The conductor reportedly threatened saying that he would make her life miserable if she took any steps against him. In her Facebook page she had posted the video clip she had taken just seconds before she was slapped. The video clips are being shared by scores of people and hundreds of people are ‘liking’ it.
When contacted, Prakash Babu attached to Kelambakkam police station, where she had lodged a complaint, said that he was aware of the petition by the IT employee.
“We have issued an acknowledgement for her complaint. After other enquiries and formalities are completed, we would register an FIR,” he said.
“I am not planning for any kind of compromise. I am insisting on registering an FIR,” said Deepika, a native of Kumbakonam, when this newspaper contacted her.
