Bengaluru: Depressed over pay, private firm employee ends life
A 27-year-old M Tech professional allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his rented flat room
BENGALURU: Two people committed suicide at their residences in separate incidents in K.R. Puram and Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits since Friday.
In the first incident, a 27-year-old M Tech professional allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his rented flat room situated in Vinayaka Layout in K.R. Puram police station limits on late Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Guruswamy, son of Veerbhadran hailing from Tamil Nadu. He had come to the city around four years ago and was working in private firm in Hebbal.
He was reportedly depressed about the small salary he was earning. The incident came to light around 11 pm after his parents, who had gone on a South India tour, returned home.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Guruswamy had passed M Tech with good marks, but had to struggle to get a job. After nearly two years he got a job in a private firm named Axis Cades, but at a very low salary.
In a statement to the police, the parents of the deceased said that last time they had spoken to their son around 2.30 pm on Friday while they were on their way to Bengaluru after the tour.
When they called him, Guruswamy allegedly told them that he didn’t go to work and was unable to cope with the depression. When his parents tried to contact him later in the evening there was no response.
Upon reaching the house when they went inside to check, they found their son hanging from the ceiling of the room. The K R Puram police have registered a case of unnatural death in this regard.
Driver commits suicide
In the second incident, a 29-year-old auto-rickshaw driver allegedly hanged himself after his wife left him on Friday, following a domestic row, at his residence in K Chanasandra in Ramamurthynagar police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Jayavelu. According to the police, Jayavelu was alcoholic and used to have petty quarrels with his wife. Dejected over frequent fights, Jayavelu's wife went to her parent’s house on Friday.
When Jayavelu came to know about this he approached his wife to come back, but she refused. He made repeated attempts to call her back, but failed to persuade her. Jayavelu became depressed.
On Friday night in an inebriated state he allegedly hanged himself using his wife’s sari. The incident came to light, on Saturday Morning, when one of the neighbours went to check and found him hanging.
He immediately alerted the police who then rushed top the spot and recovered his body. A case has been registered in the Ramamurthynagar police station.
