RajamahendravaramIndian department of posts' initiative of 'God Jal' has got instant success as it got orders worth 7.5 lakh bottles with each one carrying 500 ml at a cost of Rs 20, from both AP and TS, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Gujarat and also from NRIs in the US and UK.

On the eve of Godavari Maha Pushkaralu, the department has come up with a project to supply purified Godavari water in bottles to the devotees who cannot visit the bat-hing ghats located all al-ong the course of Godavari river in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State and take holy dip for varied reasons due to preoccupation with other in-terests, ill-health, old age and poverty.

It believes that the devotees who got the bottled Godavari water can sprinkle it on their head and also on the premises where they wanted to do so and get the feeling of purification and taking part in Maha Pushkaralu.

Accordingly, the department entered into an understanding with a firm Sapphire Mineral Water Supply and started drawing the river water from the dedicated Vema-giri ghat located in the suburbs of Rajahmundry from July 22 onwards.

The water drawn thus is being shifted in tankers to firm's plant located at Namavaram village to process it to maintain quality in compliance with ISI standards.

The processed and purified water gets bottled and sealed with Indian Posts department logo.

So far, the department authorities have sold away five lakh bottles as they got orders from several states and also from the NRIs settled abroad.
They are using snail mail, speed post and air mail to transport bottles to the devotees and got orders online on their web portal.

They say that they will be mailing the remaining 2.5 lakh bottles in the next three days to complete the targeted supply of bottles to devotees.

Postal superintendent Ajmathulla said, “We are drawing water from Godavari river until concluding time of Godavari Maha Pushkaralu by 6.35 pm on Saturday and process and bottle the water to deliver to those who booked for them.”
