Vinod Khanna roped in to play Buddha in Amrapali
It was Vinod's spiritual background that made him the first choice for director Atul Garg
Mumbai: Director Atul Garg has roped in versatile actor Vinod Khanna to play Buddha in his film, 'Amrapali'. The film which went on the floors recently is primarily a love story and is a social commentary on an era when Buddha ruled as a spiritual king.
Apparently, the filmmaker was blown away by the veteran actor's personality and it was Vinod's spiritual background that made him the first choice. Vinod who is extremely spiritual has spent time with Jiddu Krishnamurti and Osho which made it easier for him to get into the character.
Vinod who will be shooting for around a month will be sharing screenspace with newbie Jinal Pandya. Jinal will be playing the 'bride of Vaishali' Amrapali who mesmerised several royals with her beauty but was so influenced by Buddha that she renounced her position as state courtesan to become his active supporter.
