Education institutions convey condolences

ChennaiTributes started pouring in from educational institutions across Tamil Nadu condoling the death of former President  A. P. J. Kalam. 
 
Even before the school education ministry and the higher education department response came in, private institutions started sending SMSes to parents  expressing grief and announced that schools will remain closed tomorrow.  
 
As a mark of respect, Anna University (AU) cancelled classes for students of College of Engineering, Guindy, AC Tech, Madras Institute of Technology& School of Architecture & Planning, Anna university sources said. Dr Kalam served Anna University as their Honorary Professor.
 
SEPARATE ROOM FOR KALAM IN AU: He still had a room in the university’s Ramanujan computing centre. Whenever he visited the university he would go to the room and interact with students. Kalam was a student of Anna University's MIT where he studied aeronautical engineering, sources added.
 
The Sastra University also declared that the varsity would be closed on Tuesday as a mark of respect to the departed soul. “Dr Kalam always extended his support and affection to the students of Sastra. The entire Sastra family expresses its heartfelt condolences”, Dr S. Vaidhya of Sastra university said.
