THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Report on issues related to former KPCC general secretary T. Siddique's second marriage and his allegations against Wayanad MP, M. I. Shahnavas, is likely to be submitted in a few days.

KPCC vice-president Bharatipuram Sasi, who headed the subcommittee, infers that Mr Siddique behaved irresponsibly, aggravating the issue.

Apart from Mr. Sasi, KPCC general secretary B. Babu Prasad and secretary Mannar Abdul Latheef had undertaken a total of five sittings to gauge the situation after he was asked by the party leadership to step down. They took the statements of Mr Siddique, his former wife Ms Naseema, Mr Shahnavas, Kozhikode DCC president K. C. Abu, KPCC secretary K. Jayanth and Kozhikode Parliament constituency Youth Congress president P. P. Noushad.

Mr Siddique had divorced Ms Naseema and the next day he got married to another lady which courted media attention and criticism on social media networking sites.

Mr. Sasi told DC though the majority of the sittings were held at KPCC office, the sub-committee members met Ms Naseema at her house in Karunagapally.

“I can’t reveal the contents of the report. We are likely to submit the findings to KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran within 10 days as we are in the process of compiling it now. We have done a foolproof investigation and we have come up with only findings and not any recommendations,” said Mr. Sasi.

Mr Siddique had divorced Ms Naseema and the next day he got married to another lady which courted enough media attention and criticism on social networking sites.

The young leader who is known to be very close to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had garnered sympathy votes due to his then wife’s tryst with cancer when he was the Lok Sabha candidate from Kasargod.

After the divorce, an altercation between them at a restaurant in Kozhikode turned out to be ugly. Ms Naseema also filed a case against Mr Siddique alleging domestic violence.

Mr Siddique posted on his Facebook page that it was Mr. Shahnavas who made the situation worse.

Mahila Congress president Bindu Krishna also opined on her Facebook page that Mr Siddique’s family issues have caused enough damage to the Congress party.

KPCC president intervened in the issue and asked him to put in his papers on May 24.
