Director Teja loses his cool
Director upset with Hora Hori being compared to his earlier hit Jayam
During the music launch of director Teja’s upcoming film Hora Hori, many commented that from the promos, it seemed that the film was similar to his earlier film Jayam.
An upset Teja said, “Many are saying that the film is like my earlier film Jayam and this irritates me. I have made other films before and after Jayam and I don’t know why people are comparing this film with only Jayam. Moreover, despite making films on different genres, I have been stamped as making only love stories… Don’t compare Hora Hori only with Jayam, you can compare it with many other films made by me.”
“I made this film with my original attitude and anger. Though many artistes, technicians and even my family members feel tortured working with me, I give good entertainment to the audience,” said Teja, adding, “From now onwards, I have decided to work aggressively. Many artistes, who have worked with me, can move easily to any other director, because I am the toughest and they can work anywhere after working with me.”
Teja added that all Telugu films in the last 10 years have been more or less the same. “If you look at the superhit films in the last 10 years, most of them are on two formulas. One is the ‘Babugaru formula’ where the hero comes to a village from another village and works as a normal person. He used to help a family and before interval someone identifies him and says ‘Babugaru, you are working here...’ Then it is revealed that his father is a rich person, but he works here as a
normal person.
“The second formula is the ‘Gundamma formula’, where the hero works at a villain’s house and loves his daughter. One person in the family knows about the hero, but he can’t speak. One comedian tells the truth, but no one believes him. Brahmanandam plays the comedian in all these films. Many top stars have done these two formulas many times.”
“Though all these films are of the same formula, they are never compared with each other, but people are comparing my film with only Jayam after watching the promo, is this correct?” he asked. Teja is introducing two new faces, Daksha and Dilip, as the lead pair in the film.
