A Kannada film director was robbed of his suitcase containing Rs 3 lakh in cash
BENGALURU: A Kannada film director was robbed of his suitcase containing Rs 3 lakh in cash along with other documents in broad daylight near Maruthi Mandira in Vijayanagar main road on Wednesday.
The complainant, S Narayan, approached the Vijaynagar police around 1 pm and registered a complaint. Narayan had left home in the morning to go to Federal Bank for work when the theft took place.
According to the police, Narayan reached the bank branch located near Maruthi Mandir around 11.30 am and left a suitcase carrying few documents and Rs 3 lakh in cash at car’s front seat and left for bank asking the driver to be alert till he comes back. Meanwhile the driver, Ravishankar, alighted from the car and left the window half-open. In his complaint to the police, the driver said that he was standing outside the car and realized that the bag has been stolen only after Narayan returned from the bank and enquired about it.
The duo frantically search for the bag in and around the area and the approached the jurisdictional police. Based on the statement of the victim, the Vijaynagar police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter. The police are also questioning the victim’s driver in this regard.
“As per victim’s statement, the bag was kept on the front seat with half window open. The police are obtaining the CCTV footage installed in the area and also checking the neighbourhood,” said a senior police officer. A case has been registered in Vijaynagar police station and probe is underway.
