Gurdaspur (Punjab): Police have launched a search operation and a bomb disposal team has been called after a "suspicious" bag was found near the Gurdaspur bus stand here this afternoon.
"We had received information that a black polythene bag had been found lying in suspicious circumstances near the bus stand. The bomb disposal team had reached the spot and the area had been cordoned off," Gurdaspur SSP, G S Toor said.
He said the area was being searched thoroughly. Notably, on Monday, terrorists had carried out a strike at Dina Nagar in the district.
Seven persons - four civilians and three policemen including a SP rank officer, were killed by heavily-armed militants who stormed a police station. Later on, the militants had been eliminated by the security forces in an operation that lasted for nearly 12 hours.
