Kochi: The Cochin Shipyard will deliver two Ro-Ro vessels which the Kochi Corporation will ply to connect Fort Kochi and Vypeen in June and September next year.
The steel cutting ceremony of the vessels, being introduced as part of the Mission Kochi programme, was performed by Ernakulam MP K V Thomas and Mayor Tony Chammany at a function held at the shipyard here on Saturday.
The vessels cost Rs 3.8 crore each, and will help ease the traffic between the two points.
Mr Chammany said it is for the first time that a local self-government is planning to run a ro-ro service.
