Rayalaseema worst hit with -36 per cent rainfall

According to IMD, coastal AP received 12 per cent more than normal rain till now

Hyderabad: Rayalaseema has been the worst impacted region this year till now among AP and TS. The subdivision has recorded 36 per cent less than normal rains till now this season.

Though there were fairly widespread rains in Rayalaseema after the onset of monsoon, it has largely been inactive after that.

According to IMD, coastal AP received 12 per cent more than normal rain till now. Around 50 days of the south west monsoon season are still left.

Heavy rain will occur at isolated places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur of coastal AP for the next 24 hours, but this will subside soon, IMD officials said.

According to IMD inference, for the first four days, there will be isolated to scant rain in Rayalaseema and largely scant rains in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

While the second week of August looks optimistic for Rayalaseema region, current forecasts predict around 5 per cent less than normal rains for coastal AP, as per IMD.
