Visakhapatnam: A four-day Hiroshima and Nagasaki commemorative meet will be held under the aegis of International Association for Religious Freedom and the BV Foundation for the Promotion of Peace and Harmony in Visakhapatnam from August 6.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narava Prakasa Rao of BV Foundation said, “We have been organising commemorative meetings every year to inculcate a quality mindset in the public, especially in the student community. The meetings will be conducted at St. Joseph's College for Women in Gnanapuram on August 6, AS Raja Jr. College at MVP Colony on August 7, Dr. VSK Govt Degree College on August 8 and NT school in Akkyyaplaem on Aug. 9.”
“The above meetings will be followed by an exhibition of Hiroshima and Nagasaki atom bomb explosions and screening of documentary film,” he added. In August, 1945, the US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which killed at least 1,29,000 people. This remains the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in history.
