Hyderabad: In a sign that hints at the revival of Brand Hyderabad, US-based hospitality chain Oakwood has opened its first service apartment in the city with an investment partnership from Kapil Group in the IT hub of Gachibowli.
The company, which operates in eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region, has 158 apartments in the Hyderabad.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Michael Price, director of operations South and Southeast-Asia, Oakwood Asia-Pacific, said, “We alre-ady have five properties all across India — Mum-bai, Pune, Bengaluru. The Hyderabad property will be our sixth property and the first in the city. We are also planning to open our seventh property in 2017 in Mumbai and may have three to four projects in the country in new cities like Delhi, Gurgoan or Chennai”.
According to Mr Price, the target customers of Oakwood are people rela-ting to IT, healthcare and those coming to the city to attend conferences. According to realty experts, Oakwood’s decision to manage the premium property attests the revival of Hydera-bad’s brand, which had got dented due to five years long political uncertainty caused by Telangana agitation.
