Nitish Kumar hits back at Modi’s DNA remark; writes open letter
Kumar urged PM to retract from his DNA as people of the state are feeling disgusted
Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming Bihar visit is likely to be stormy as grand secular alliance led by Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav is likely to disrupt his scheduled public meeting in Gaya onAugust 9. This was indicated on Thursday by leaders of JD (U) and Congress that they are planning to rake up the issue of Prime Minister’s scathing remark against chief minister Nitish Kumar’s “DNA” while he was in Bihar last month to address a rally in Muzaffarpur.
JD (U) leaders said the rattled chief minister has written an open letter to the Prime Minister urging him to retract from his DNA remark against him as people of the state are feeling “disgusted and hurt”.
In his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Nitish Kumar wrote, “Few days back while addressing a rally in Bihar; a comment was made by you about my DNA. The issue has been troubling many of us since then. Now as you are scheduled to visit the state again I am writing to you on behalf of those who have felt hurt by your statement. Your words have been taken as an insult by a large section of the people of the state and beyond. Most of us also feel that coming from you the comment is rather unbecoming of the office you hold”.
Adding further he also urged the Prime Minister to take his words backs stating that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari too had mentioned in one of his statement against the people of Bihar saying “casteism is in the DNA of Bihar”.
It is being understood that Prashant Kishore, the campaign strategist had not only advised the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to gain out of the DNA remark made by the Prime Minister but has also drafted the letter for him which was later uploaded on social site twitter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his July 25 Parivartan Rally in Muzaffarpur while making remarks on the DNA of chief minister Nitish Kumar had mentioned that Nitish Kumar had not only humiliated him by snapping ties with his party BJP on the grounds that he was made the Prime Minister candidate but had also humiliated a Mahadalit Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Continuing their blistering attack on the Prime Minister the leaders of grand secular alliance in Bihar said, “It’s only the frustration of the BJP that such remarks are being made. Prime Minister Remarks is derogatory and we want him to take his words back if he cannot apologise”.
