Forget everything, focus on BBMP polls: Dr G Parameshwar
Dr G. Parameshwar on Tuesday directed all ministers to lead the party to victory
BENGALURU: Ahead of elections to BBMP, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Tuesday directed all ministers to lead the party to victory, ignoring other engagements and activities. His diktat came soon after a high-profile meeting with ministers at the party office here on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the media cell of KPCC, Dr Parameshwar said “BBMP elections are most important for us. We need to win the elections as the BJP, which ruled the city for last five years, brought lot of disrepute by turning the garden city to garbage city.”
He emphasised that leaders of his party should highlight scams which came to light when the BJP was in power in BBMP. “Lot many scams that involved BJP leaders need to be highlighted for the benefit of voters,” the statement quoted Dr Parameshwar as advising the ministers. The statement also indicated that the party would finalise the list of its candidates after August 6.
“We will finalise list of candidates before August 6 as observers need to submit their list of probable candidates in a day or two in a sealed envelop to KPCC president. After receiving these reports, Dr Parameshwar along with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will place them before the screening committee to finalise the names before August 9,” the statement added.
Besides, a senior leader who participated in the meeting told Deccan Chronicle that ministers who took part in the meting insisted that the party should setup a special cell exclusively to tackle BJP’s social-media campaign ahead of the polls.
“The biggest setback is that the party’s social network wing is considerably weak and needs to be augmented to match that of the BJP,” the leader added.
