Hyderabad: Three transwomen were allegedly sexually assaulted by railway police in Bhongir and implicated for extortion, said a transgender activist. Karthik Bittu, member of the Telangana Transgender and Hijra Samiti, said that the incident occurred on a train when a man began making small talk with two hijra women. As the Bhongir station neared, he attacked them and tried to take away the purse of one of them, Bittu said.
 
The man said he was from the police, and asked how they had made so much money. By the time the train reached the station, and there was another trans person waiting for them. The cops took all of them to the police station where they were allegedly sexually assaulted. The police has denied the charge.
