Deepika’s NGO to promote mental healthcare
‘Having gone through depression, I understand mental health & stigma associated with it’
While 2014 was the best phase of Deepika Padukone’s career, she had confessed earlier this year that she had been battling depression and anxiety issues throughout.
While Deepika recovered completely, mentally and physically, to ensure that others don’t face the same problem, she has started an initiative for an NGO foundation to promote mental healthcare. It is called Live, Laugh, Love and she released the logo on Thursday.
Talking about it, Deepika said, “After a stage in your career, you reach a point where you want to give back to the society, and that’s where I am. Having gone through depression, I understand mental health and the stigma associated with it better today.
That is something I want to work towards removing. It exists a lot in our country. “About the NGO that I announced, it is still months away, it won’t start immediately. There’s a lot of planning involved but I am beginning work towards it.”
The flying birds in the logo signify this very essence of the foundation. The logo also has the baseline “Foundation Against Depression” that represents its mission.
