Hyderabad:  The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the secretary of the ministry of communication and information technology and the chief vigilance officers of departments of electronics and information technology and telecommunications at Delhi to ensure that Internet Service Providers delete, take down or block any URLs making available any copyrighted content of the Telugu movie Srimanthudu.

M/s Mythri Movie Makers, the production house of the film, had moved the High Court by filing two petitions, seeking directions to the Central authorities and also DGPs of AP and Telangana to enforce the orders passed by a civil court of the city granted in its favour.

The civil court had granted the order by directing the authorities concerned to restrain the ISPs from hosting, displaying, publishing, transmitting, updating or sharing any information over the Internet that would infringe the patent and protected copyrights of the movie makers’ over Srimanthudu.

While dealing with one petition Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar ordered the central authorities to consider the representations of the petitioner and ensure steps in accordance with the orders of the civil court.

In another petition, Justice A.V. Sesha Sai directed the DGPs of both the states to ensure steps for the implementation of the civil court’s order.
