Kerala: No objection to consider Sivankutty’s plea on graft in Games
Justice Alexander Thomas posted the case to August 10 for a detailed hearing
Kochi: The State government on Thursday informed the Kerala High Court that it had no objection to Justice Alexander Thomas considering MLA Sivankutty’s plea. Nemom MLA V Sivankutti’s plea seeking a CBI probe into the conduct of the recently concluded National Games is pending before the court.
Justice Alexander Thomas posted the case to August 10 for a detailed hearing. There was wholesale corruption in the conduct of the National Games, CPM MLA Sivankutti pointed out.
The inaction on the part of the CBI to inquire into the facts of corruption as highlighted by the petitioner was illegal. The petitioner contended that the CBI was bound to register an FIR and investigate into the allegations levelled by him.
The inaction to do so acts as a premium to the corrupt to suppress their acts of corruption and cheat the general public, he argued. The petitioner sought a directive to the CBI to register an FIR.
