Preparation for Karkidaka Vavu Bali reaches last mile
Health officials will put up medical camps on Karkidaka Vavu bali day on August 14
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With just a week remaining for Karkidaka Vavu Bali, preparations are nearing completion at Parasurama temple, Thiruvallam, where a 200-metre temporary queue complex has been installed.
The temporary walkway starts from the side of the main bathing ghat in front of the river and crosses the river into the ‘Lanka’ island in the river and then crosses the river once more to end near the lady’s bathing ghat.
The de-siltation and cleaning of bathing ghats by the city corporation have been progressing in spite of a steady increase in pollutants that come through the Pallichal canal.
The leaking shower for devotees beside the river will be rectified by the Kerala water authority which will also exclusively store one lakh litre water in overhead storage tanks.
Parking grounds have been identified across Thiruvallam and strict parking ban will be enforced on the NH bypass. CCTVs will be installed to weed out anti-social elements and the police have a permanent aid post here.
Health officials will put up medical camps on Karkidaka Vavu bali day on August 14. Roadside food vendors also will come under the scanner of the district medical officer.
Tickets for offering bali here will be available at Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) temples.
Thousands of people will pay homage to their ancestors by offering “bali tharpanam” on the auspicious Karkidaka Vavu day. Shanghu-mugham, Aruvikkara, Thrivikramangalam and Kadinamkulam will serve as main vavu bali points in the city.
