As SIIMA 2015 drew to a heady close recently in Dubai, what actors took away were not just glittery awards-— but also a bunch of memories that saw them bonding and chilling, no-holds barred!
Fans were in for a real treat as social media was abuzz over the last couple of days, with stars — especially the actresses — flood their profiles with selfies and groupies, having wild night outs and partying together.
If the gorgeous trio of Shriya Saran, Raai Laxmi and Shruti Haasan were living it up at an upscale restaurant indulging in some sisterly bonhomie, veteran actresses Suhasini Maniratnam, Saritha and Kushboo Sundar also shared a lovely snap of them smiling together. All these lead us to wonder: is all the talk about stars gossiping behind each other’s backs and unable to find real friends among each other grossly overrated?
“Yes, actresses do get along. Genuinely, at that. But our hectic schedules don’t permit us to build on relations and friendships. The girls of today’s generation are pretty secure, as the competition is only in the work place,” quips Vishakha Singh, who is often spotted with co-stars like Priya Anand.
Actress and squash player Komal Sharma agrees and adds that it was wonderful to see people from the same industry having a whale of a time together. She says, “There is no need for insecurity if you’re confident about yourselves. People who want to work with you will always find a way to approach you. Only if you consider yourself inferior in some form, do issues arise needlessly. I always make it a point to appreciate other actresses whenever I see them during social occasions.” A source, who attended the SIIMA awards show and even went backstage to meet the stars tells us that she was surprised at how sweet everyone was! “They were all damn chill, and incredible fun to be with. They were also extremely hospitable and cordial while interacting with fans,” she recalls.
Singer Vishnupriya Ravi says that irrespective of the competition, it works best for performers in the film and glamour industry to get along with each other and be sportive. “Maybe earlier it wasn’t possible, but now all of us know that our talents and careers are special in their own respective ways, so what’s the need to take down someone else?”
But not everyone is convinced, entirely. College student Jeni Feona feels it could all be a big publicity stunt just for the sake of the cameras, “I’m not too sure if pics actually indicate they’re real friends — who knows what happens after that, really? Having said that, I do agree two popular girls can get along. It’s only when interests clash ... shopping, hobbies, or boys (or in this case, the same interest) when all hell breaks loose!”
