Marredpally police station ‘attackers’ questioned
Cops identified 15 suspects from CCTV footage

Hyderabad: Central Crime Station officials on Friday questioned 15 persons in connection to the attack on the Marredpally police station on August 3. Officials had identified them from CCTV footage from cameras in front of the police station.
On Thursday night, the North Zone Police picked up the 15 youths from Gandhinagar area under the Marredpally police station and handed them over to the Central Crime Station. They were produced before the investigating officer on Friday for questioning.
“We recorded their statements and let them go. We will decide on further course of investigation based on the inquiry,” said CCS DCP T. Prabhakar. A mob from Gandhinagar had attacked the Marredpally police station and damaged computers and furniture following the death of one G. Bannappa.
The Marredpally police lost many important files and computers, and other valuables, which were burnt on the night of the attack. Two bikes, a police car, and two RTC buses were also damaged.
Hyderabad commissioner Mahender Reddy had ordered a probe into the death of Bannappa and had handed over the inquiry to the Central Crime Station. Two sub inspectors were been removed from the police station and attached to the head quarters pending inquiry.
