KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will announce five projects covering sanitation, waste management, sewage systems and urban design to be implemented with British government support in Aluva on Monday.

The project titled ‘Framework for Future Proofing’ will be implemented by the Aluva municipality and the state  government to make Aluva prepare better for climate change impact and develop sustainably.

The citizens of Aluva will get cleaner water and air, better sanitation facilities, improved road safety and flood-control systems.

The three key priority areas are urban design plan to improve the quality of public places to encourage the use of low carbon transport options, restoration of Periyar river and implementation of green corridors and improvements in the waste management systems, a release said. The projects will have substantial private sector involvement, it added.
