Traffic was blocked for the entire route from airport until the University of Madras campus on Kamarajar Salai when PM Modi took the road after landing in the city around 10 am and later during his return to the airport after meeting with CM J. Jayalalithaa at her residence.

Traffic along arterial stretches,  from GST road near airport until Little mount, Anna Salai, Sardar Patel road, TTK road and Kamarajar Salai, was a real picture of trouble for motorists and commuters.
