Two killed in different road mishaps in Chennai
Rose Beena was fatally knocked down by a MTC bus while attempting to cross the road

Chennai: Two persons including a woman were killed in separate road accidents in the city since Thursday night, In one incident on East Coast road near Neelankarai, a 45-year-old woman, Rose Beena was fatally knocked down by a MTC bus while attempting to cross the road.
A resident of Mayana salai in Rajiv Gandhi nagar, Panayur, she was crossing the road near Nainar Kuppam around 8 pm on Thursday when the MTC bus knocked her down. She was thrown several meters in the impact and died on the spot, police said.
An irate mob pelted stones at the bus and meted out mob justice to the driver, Siva and conductor Rajendran. The driver reportedly told the cops that he couldn’t notice the woman crossing the road, as there was no center median or illumination on the road. Adyar traffic investigation wing registered a case and arrested the driver. Traffic was affected for close to an hour in the stretch.
In another incident in Avadi, a 48-year-old water tanker lorry driver died after he rammed his vehicle into a culvert on Poonamalee Highway. The victim, Karthikeyan owns the lorry and also doubles up as its driver, police said. On Friday, around 4 am, he was drawing water off a well in Thaneerkuppam near Avadi and was returning back to the city when he met with the accident.
