Telangana Intermediate grading to start from 2016
Mr Srihari said the government and Telangana Board of Intermediate Education were studying the modalities
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government will implement the grading system of marking in Intermediate first and second years.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said the CBSE system of answer sheet evaluation, whereby all sheets are scanned and examined through the Onscreen Marking System (OMS), will be adopted.
He said the government was studying the modalities of the implementation and, if possible, the new system will be implemented from the 2016 exams itself.
Mr Srihari said the government and Telangana Board of Intermediate Education were studying the modalities.
Interestingly, though CBSE is employing the OMS, it still awards marks to XII class students along with relative grading.
The state board, meanwhile, awards just grades instead of marks for tenth exams.
The Deputy Chief Minister did not say if the grading would be absolute or relative like that followed in CBSE’s Class XII.
The government is also planning on introducing of the OMS. But it would be much harder to implement considering the sheer volume of answer sheets that are generated in the Intermediate exams.
Mr Srihari also said that the KG to PG scheme would be divided into three segments. “First segment is KG to Class IV, second would be from Class V to XII and the third would be from graduation and postgraduation study.”
He said 1190 residential schools would be made operational, with 10 such schools in each constituency and vice-chancellors to all universities would be appointed in four months.
This, however, is at odds with the HC directive, which had granted the Telangana state government just three months to appoint V-Cs.
