PG student tested positive for dengue

The hospital has asked the GHMC to carry out spraying work

With monsoon rains lashing Salem, the dengue cases went up to 26 in the district last month

Hyderabad: A post-graduate student from Gandhi Medical College has contracted dengue and is undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital. Dr Lalit Singh is doing his post-graduate in radiology, and it was stated that the area was dark all the time there was a possibility that the area was not cleaned, while mosquitoes breed nearby.

A senior doctor said, “Mosquitoes will breed when there is accumulation of water around the premises. Hospital staff must be alert and carry out proper cleaning which is completely lacking.” The hospital premises must be cleaned thoroughly and regularly

Dr K. Narsimulu, professor of internal medicine, said Dr Singh had tested positive for dengue but was stable. “Two more cases of dengue from private hospitals have been admitted in the hospital,” he said.

The hospital has asked the GHMC to carry out spraying work. Post-graduate students have been asked to not store water in buckets. Also a dry day must be maintained where all pots and pans are kept out for drying.
