Complainant against forest minister MSM Anandan held, released

Chennai: A day after a sacked woman functionary of the AIA DMK leveled cheating allegations against newly appointed forest minister, M.S.M. Anandan, Teynampet police detained her on Sunday as a preventive measure.
Police said that they had to detain the woman to prevent any untoward incident during the minister’s swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Sunday as she had threatened to commit suicide.
“She was let off later in the day,” a senior police officer said. A native of Gandhi Nagar in Tiruppur, the woman runs a garment business there. Speaking to media persons on Saturday, she alleged that the minister had cheated her promising to lease a temple land in Chennai after getting money from her when he was the HR & CE minister in 2013.
Further, she threatened to commit suicide along with her children if the party fails to initiate action against the minister.
In her complaint to the party general secretary and CM, J.Jayalalithaa, she had mentioned the cheating by the minister and also alleged that he used his influence as District secretary and got her removed from the party’s primary membership in 2014.
According to police sources, Jebamani attempted to lodge a complaint at the party office on July 24 this year and followed it with another attempt on Saturday when she was denied permission. Following this, she addressed the media and threatened to commit suicide.
