K R Gowriamma shies away from CPM merger
The JSS secretariat has decided to continue with its JSS identity in the LDF
ALAPPUZHA: In an unexpected twist in the merger deal between the Communist Party of India (CPI)(M) and Janathipatya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS), the state secretariat of the Samithi held here on Sunday decided to walk away from the merger scheduled on August 19, P Krishnapillai Day.
After the decision was made public, CPM politbureau member Pinarayi Vijayan called on JSS supremo Gowriamma at her house at Chathanattu here.
It is learnt that the tussle on assets brewing between the Gowri coterie and Rajanbabu faction played spoilsport thus aborting the merger plan.
The section led by Rajanbabu had claimed ownership of the JSS property at Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram.
They said that the property belonged to the party workers. The Thiruvanamthapuram RDO had also asked the party to submit documents related to the ownership of the property a few weeks ago in the wake of a case filed by the faction.
However, Gowriamma said that the state committee office of the JSS at Alappuzha and district committee office at Thiruvananthapuram were purchased after utilising the fund collected by the party workers and from her own personal account. “The properties are registered in my name ”, Gowri said.
Gowriamma said that the matter of the merger with the CPIM would be discussed later and taking the present situation into account, the secretariat had decided to work as an ally.
The JSS secretariat has decided to continue with its JSS identity in the LDF. After this decision, the merger meet was cancelled.
