BengaluruThanks to advances in medicine, many life-threatening diseases in the country have been shown the door. More importantly, the Immunization Program is one of the key interventions to protect our children from life-threatening conditions, which are preventable. Despite parents going the extra mile to ensure their child’s health, still, their busy lifestyles and other limitations, cause them  to miss the dates of vaccinations and other immunization schedules. Aware of this problem, a city-based doctor from Kempe Gowda Institute Of Medical Science (KIMS) has developed a software which can take care of a key requirement -- of not missing a date on the immunization calendar.

Speaking about the software and confirming the news, Dr R Nisarga, Chairman, KIMS says, “Dr Ranjan Kumar Pejawar has developed a software to help parents adhere to the immunization schedule right from day one of the child's birth," says Dr Nisarga. The software will help parents to keep track of the entire schedule and not skip a date, ensuring a no-stress duty for overworked parents.

"The software will also send alerts and message reminders to parents, ensuring that the dates are not missed," informs the Chairman. He adds, "This would take care of all immunization till the age of twelve." Speaking about the importance of immunizations and vaccinations, Dr Nisarga says, “Immunization is the process in which a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine. Vaccines stimulate the body’s own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.”

There are also various online services or websites which offer parents access to comprehensive information on immunization by following easy-to-use free tools designed to help you save the date to vaccinate, but many either cover only basic dates or don’t send  reminders. “We send one reminder for every vaccine. This makes skipping any of the dates impossible,” sums up the director.
