Victims of job fraud return from Saudi
All of them were victims of job fraud and later landed in jail in Saudi
KOCHI: A total of 53 persons including 6 Keralites who were released from jail in Saudi Arabia reached Cochin international airport on Sunday with the NORKA-ROOTS authorities and the Indian Embassy there facilitating their return.
They arrived by a Saudi Airline flight around noon. Persons belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra were the others who reached back.
The Keralites in the group are Shajahan from Mannarkad, Mohammed Abdulla from Attingal, Rajesh from Venjaramoo-du, Ephin from Triprayar, Kafil from Ponnani and Sajeev from Manjeri.
All of them were victims of job fraud and later landed in jail in Saudi. Shajahan had landed in Saudi 21 months ago and was duped by the sponsor and did not get the promised job.
He had to work as a manual labourer but later surrendered before police. He had to languish in jail for 13 days.
Serena V Abdulla Rabb from Mumbai, a beautician, landed in Saudi 13 months ago and was also duped by the sponsor and did not get the promised job.
She had to work as a home-maid where she faced a very hostile environment from the local land lord.
She also later surrendered before the police and had to spend seven days in jail.
The victims of the job fraud reportedly paid Rs 60,000 to Rs 2 lakh as commission to get the job.
