Caught on camera: Leopard and her cub kill pet dog in Thane
A wild leopard wandered into the residential area and snatched a pet dog

Leopards are known to terrorise residents of suburban Mumbai in parts of the city that has close promixity to Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Stray dogs are said to be easier prey as compared to deer, hence they often tread into residential areas to capture preys.
Several reports have emerged about a leopard and her cub dragging a pet dog from a residential area in Ghodbunder, Thane on August 6. This would be the fourth instance of pet dogs being snatched by leopards, according to the Indian Express.
In the footage, the leopard and her cub enter the bungalow's compound attack the kennel where a Rottweiler was sleeping. Hindustan Times reports that the decomposed carcass of the Rottweiler, Cocoa was found one kilometere away from the house, into the forest. The cub continued playing the lawn while the mother dragged her prey outside the premises.
While leopard sightings are common in these areas, the safety of pet dogs has become a rising concern for local residents. A leopard was caught on CCTV last month wandering outside an apartment, however the pet dog turned hero for the residents of the building which is located in Borivali, Mumbai.
