New Delhi: With Parliament’s Monsoon Session on its last leg, the semblance of Opposition unity cracked open on Monday as regional parties, led by the Samajwadi Party, broke ranks with the Congress to press for normal functioning to return.

The government said that the Congress was trying to stop passage of the GST Bill, that was listed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, while almost all other parties wanted it to be passed.

Opposition parties returned to the Lok Sabha on Monday, but Congress MPs trooped into the Well shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. SP chief Mulayam Singh rose to his feet abruptly and called on the Speaker to speak to the BJP and Congress leaders speak to each other to end the stalemate.
