It is the marriage season in Mollywood, and actress Muktha’s impending nuptials came as a complete surprise. She will be tying the knot with singer Rimi Tomy’s brother Rinku on August 30 in Kochi. The engagement will be on August 23 and Muktha is yet to let the feeling of her being a bride-to-be sink in. The actress is busy with the promotions and final work of her Tamil film Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga with Arya. She also has a stage show scheduled on August 26 and 28, barely two days before her wedding.
This busy schedule is just the way Muktha likes it. As she opines, “I don’t even mind doing a show on August 31! I personally don’t want to take a break after marriage, but want life to continue the way it is. In fact, I wasn’t planning to get married so soon, but the families decided. Anyway I have to get married some day, so might as well do it when everything has fallen into place.”
Muktha has no reservations speaking about how she met her beau. “This is an arranged-cum-love marriage. Both our families know each other very well, especially the mothers. Since Rimi chechi is also in the entertainment field, I have done shows with her. Rinku used to arrange the shows and we used to talk regularly and later decided to speak to both sets of parents, who had no objection. I feel as an artiste, I couldn’t have got a better match, since Rimi and Rinku are both from the entertainment field and understand the scenario. Rimi chechi is very supportive and I feel she has actually become more active after her marriage.”
Unlike many other actresses, who take a break or totally quit films after marriage, Muktha surprised us as she shared, “Rimi chechi has asked me not to sit idle at home. As acting is the only profession I know, Rinku has no problems with me working after marriage if I get the right roles. He has asked me not to stop dancing; his mother too has said that even if I stop acting, I shouldn’t stop dancing! They like to see my dance performances.”
Muktha has one desire that she hopes to fulfill on her wedding day. She reveals, “I want to wear the chattayum mundum which is the traditional Christian attire. This is a dress which has made an exit from the traditional wedding scene and is confined to elderly women wearing it. As an actress, I want to set an example by wearing it and hope other youngsters emulate me. I also don’t want a lavish wedding but something very simple.”
