Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested a prosperous land grabber Erukala Srinivas alias Srini on Tuesday following a complaint from a local resident.

Srinivas, 50, is a rowdysheeter and has been named in several cases in the past. He had allegedly grabbed the victim’s property fraudulently.

“We have booked a case against him under the land grabbing Act and IPC sections for criminal trespass. He has been sent to judicial remand after the arrest,” said Petbasheerabad ACP S. Ashok Kumar.

Soon after the arrest of Srini, a group of people started a protest at the police station. They were dispersed and the police took him to prison.

Srini, against whom the Jawaharnagar police station has a rowdysheet, has been arrested several times previously. Police said he gets away when victims and witnesses turn hostile in court.

“There are 12 cases including an attempt to murder case against him. We opened a rowdysheet on him in 2013,” said Jawaharnagar inspector P. Venkatagiri.

“When the case reaches the court, the victims and witness turn hostile, which turns the case favourable to him. He has settled some other cases with money and threats,” said Mr Venkatagiri.

Living in a luxurious house in Jawaharnagar, Srini owns several acres of land and a fortune that allegedly runs into lakhs of rupees and claims he is a realtor.
