Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar refusing to blink even after BJP leaders clarifying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi DNA remark was another political “Jumla”, a “Shabd Wapsi” campaign was launched in Bihar on Tuesday.
According to JD (U) leaders and workers who had gathered outside party office in Patna said “we will not stop till Prime Minister retracts from his DNA remark”. Party intends to send around 50 lakh DNA samples to the Prime Minister.
People were seen queuing up with their hair and nail samples in a small plastic packet with their signatures submitting at the counter to be sent to the Prime Minister. Leaders and workers of the JD (U) even staged dharna across the state protesting against the remark asking the PM to take his words back.
Chief Minister while urging more and more people to join the campaign through this twitter account said “I am proud to be a Bihari and I know that there is no problem with my DNA those who doubt it may get it tested, I have just signed a petition asking Modiji to take back his words”.
Clearly JD (U) wants to capitalize on to the remark by instigating regional feeling of the masses. The signature and sample collection drive which began from Tuesday is likely to continue throughout the month. Chief Minister through his tweet had said that drive would also become a part of their door to door campaign.
JD (U) spokesperson Niraj Kumar while replying to questions raised by union minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad about the payment of the test, he said “they leveled an allegation; they’ve raised the question about our DNA they should pay for it”.
