Piece of history: Founded in 1921, Osmania General Hospital is scheduled to be demolished as the structure is now "beyond repair"

Hyderabad: Senior counsel Sarasani Satyam Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, placed clippings of several newspapers pertaining to the government’s decision to demolish the OGH building before the bench.

He also referred to a statement was made Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali that any structure which has become old should give way to a new one.

He said the OGH building was a heritage building and the government had no power to demolish it without de-notifying it from the heritage structures list. The bench said that in view of the statement made by the state government through the additional advocate-general, it would be premature to intervene in the case.

While closing the case, the bench said that whenever the decision is taken the public may be informed about it.
