Andhra Pradesh digs up old cases against K T Rama Rao’s aides
A team of Vizag police has been camping in Karimnagar for the past two days to serve notices
Hyderabad: Following developments in the cash-for-vote scam, AP is now digging up an old case of 2013 regarding attack on cops in Pendurthi of Vishakapatnam.
A team of Vizag police has been camping in Karimnagar for the past two days to serve notices under Section 160 of CrPc to two policemen who worked as personal security officers of IT minister K. T. Rama Rao for their examination as witness in Pendurthi attack case. AP police, who sought the help of Karimnagar SP Joel Davis, alleged that the TS cops are refusing to accept the notices.
Vizag police then booked a case of attempt to murder against attackers who were also the accused in a businessman’s kidnap case in Odisha and while fleeing attacked cops at Pendurthi in February 2013. This is apart from the first case of kidnap booked with Odisha police.
One Satish Reddy named then in the kidnap case and was alleged to be a follower of Mr Rama Rao. Mr Rama Rao strongly denied this then itself.
An AP police official said, “The notice is for two PSOs Odelu and Srinivas, who worked as gunmen for Mr Rama Rao when he was Sricilla MLA, to appear as witness.”
When contacted, Karimnagar SP Mr Davis said, “A inspector from Vizag has come here stating that he wants to serve notice to two persons. Except names he has no other particulars. Moreover, as per 160 CrPc notices cannot be served here.”
