Chennai: In a call to convert the five Opposition parties led People’s Welfare Front into an electoral alliance, CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan on Thursday urged leaders to remain together like Pancha Pandavas who stayed united till the end to win Kurukshetra war in epic Mahabharatha.
Likening leaders of MDMK, CPI (M), CPI, VCK and MMK to Pancha Pandavas in Mahabharatha, Mr Mutharasan said Pandava remained united to win the war. “The 2016 Assembly polls is like Mahabharatha war. Let us remain together and fight and ultimately win,” he said to a big round of applause of party cadres who gathered to protest the anti people policies of the Central and the state governments at Valluvar Kottam.
Accepting his call to remain united, Mr Thirumavalavan said, “Instead of likening us to Pandavas, we should equate ourselves to Pancha Boothas.” Mr Vaiko said that the front would emerge as a major political force in the state in the coming days. Mr Ramakrishnan said that front would continue to fight for the people’s issue including Prohibition.
“We will continue to fight for the implementation of prohibition in the state. We have given an assurance to the family members of Gandhian Sasiperumal who died while protesting for closure of a Tasmac shop in Marthandam in Kanyakumari district, that we will fight for prohibition,” he noted.
