Even as she stole hearts with an endearing performance as a mute girl in Salman Khan starrer Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, seven-year-old Harshaali Malhotra garnered some awws as she visited the city earlier this week for the launch of an American kids apparel store. “This is the first time I’m coming to Bengaluru,” smiles the little fashionista who gave the paparazzi a field day, complete in a trendy cropped denim jacket, floral pants and pink metallic shoes.

Like any other girl, “I love dressing up. My favourite colour is pink and I’ve a number of hair bands, dresses and shoes in the colour from  the American store, The Children’s Place,” confesses the child artiste who is often spotted with pink toys or travel bags on her outings. As one would guess, she’s indeed a princess – what with being the most pampered kid on the sets and director Kabir Khan even moving around schedules because the action sequences gave Harshaali quite a scare. “It was fun working with Salman mama and visiting different places during the shoot. We even played table tennis and I won sometimes too,” she gushes, recollecting memories of her gorging on Kashmiri biryani and snowballing the cast and crew, shooting over her summer vacation. Playing the role of Munni, a young mute girl from Pakistan who finds herself lost in India with no way to head back across the border, the Harshaali managed to ace her performance without saying a word! The bubbly star has earlier acted in popular shows like Qubool Hai, Savdhaan India, Laut Aao Trisha and Jodha Akbar but she still finds the time to go to school. A student of Grade Two at Mumbai’s Seven Square Academy, ask her if she likes going to school or acting and she’s quick to reply, “I love acting more because it’s a lot more fun and playful!” Interestingly, according to her interior designer mother Kajal Malhotra, she incidentally hates auditioning, but still managed to stand out amongst hundreds of girls who took a screen test.

After grabbing eyeballs in a host of television commercials and scoring a jackpot at the box office with this film, Harshaali now wants to work with the likes of Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha – B-Town actresses who’ve already met her before and couldn’t stop themselves from taking selfies! “I want to work with Salman uncle again,” confesses the tot who adores and looks up to Kareena Kapoor too. But for now, she is content twirling on her toes and singing – two of her most favourite pastimes.
