Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to announce the launch of “2BHK Houses for Poor” scheme during his Independence Day speech at Golconda Fort on Saturday. The scheme was one of the major poll promise of TRS.
However, the scheme is yet to take off in districts though construction of 2BHK houses in G+2 model in IDL colony in Hyderabad commenced in October 2014. Mr Rao is also likely to target the Opposition parties for obstructing and criticising the programmes and schemes launched by TRS government besides talking about the achievements of his government during the last one year in his I-Day speech.
Mr Rao is also expected to unveil the roadmap for implementing TRS’ another major poll promise of “KG to PG free education” besides new scheme “Grama Jyothi” for development of villages. Mr Rao visited IDL colony on Dassara in October last year and was shocked to find people living in dilapidated houses. He asked them to vacate the houses to enable government to demolish them and construct new ones in G+2 model.
In all, 396 houses are coming up in G+2 model in 32 blocks. The government has spent Rs 37 crore towards the project. Each house, being built at a cost of Rs 7.9 lakh would have 580 square yards of area. Water and electricity connections would be provided. The government is planning to build 2BHK houses of 510 square feet in districts with a cost of about Rs 5.10 lakh.
