Telangana government aims for Army’s Field Firing Range at Shamirpet
The government has cancelled lease for 617 acres of land at Shamirpet
Hyderabad: Yet another land dispute has cropped up between the Army and the TS government. The TS government has cancelled the land lease of the Army’s Field Firing Range at Shamirpet and decided to take back 617 acres of land. The land was leased out to the Army in 1968, which expired in 2013.
However, the Army continues to hold on to the land. The TS government refused to extend the lease and cancelled it in March this year on the ground that it was posing safety risk to surrounding localities where residential areas came up besides its proximity to Outer Ring Road.
While revenue officials are trying to take back the land and put up TS government boards on it, the Army on the other hand is obstructing their entry saying they have no communication from the Union defence ministry to handover this land.
