Bengaluru: A timely call to the family members by a nurse, who got stuck in a lift in Bangalore Diabetes Centre in Vasanth Nagar, helped the Fire and Emergency personnel rescue her on Friday.
Soon after the call was made, the family members alerted the fire department, who rushed to the hospital.
The nurse Anumala (27) remained stuck in the hospital lift, between second and third floor, for more than an hour. Anumala had taken the lift from third floor to go to ground floor. But within seconds the lift got stuck. A panicked-stricken Anumala tried calling the hospital staff but in vain. She then made a call to one of her family members and informed them that she was stuck in the lift.
Her family members informed the hospital staff and fire and emergency service department. The firemen rushed to the spot and managed to open the lift door and rescue Anumala. A senior fire personnel officer said, “We will discuss about the incident with the jurisdictional police, who will decide on checking the maintenance of the lift with the hospital authorities.”
It may be recalled that recently an 80-year-old man died after he fell into the lift shaft of Fortis Hospital in Nagarbhavi. The lift had door opened, even though the cabin was at another floor.
