Mahesh Babu's village is pretty okay
People of Burripalem have benefited with aid from star’s family
Vijayawada: The villagers of Telugu actor Mahesh Babu’s native village Burripalem are trying to get the actor to adopt the village, if only to boost its image. Interestingly, the actor’s recent film Srimanthudu is about a backward village being adopted.
Burripalem is located 5 km from Tenali. Mahesh Babu’s father and renowned actor Krishna, and his mother Nagaratnamma, have helped with development works. Mahesh Babu’s family built a school, temple, marriage function hall and set up a B.Ed college as well.
According to reports, speculations are rife in film and political circles that the actor may adopt Burripalem, which is his father’s native village. Rumours have been doing the rounds in political circles that Mahesh Babu’s sister Padmavati, the wife of MP Galla Jayadev, will also adopt their mother’s native village Kancherlapalem, which is adjacent to Burripalem.
After Srimanthudu hit the screens and after Mahesh Babu announcement that he intends to adopt a village, all focus is on Burripalem village now. Mahesh Babu’s grandmother Nagaratnamma was involved in development work, including village-level politics too. Actor Krishna also used to visit the village regularly. But the family members have been maintaining a distance for the last one decade after Nagaratnmma’s demise. However, now, the villagers are anxious about the possibility of the village being adopted.
