Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party has blamed the TRS government for the rise in dengue cases in the state.

BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy, who visited the Government Fever Hospital at Nallakunta here on Monday said poor sanitation was the root cause for the spread of the disease.

Mr Reddy said that out of the 68 cases referred to the hospital, 14 had been confirmed as dengue. Sporadic cases of dengue were still emerging from different parts of the state, he added.

“Though the government publicised the clean and green Hyderabad and Swachh Hyderabad, sanitation still remains poor,” he said.

“In a report, Hyderabad stood at the 270th position in sanitation. The government should immediately focus on sanitation in the city and other parts of the state,” he added.

Mr Kishan Reddy said that since the Fever Hospital would be celebrating its centenary, the government should sanction '100 crore to the hospital, which has been a pioneer in treating tropical diseases.

“There is an urgent need to revamp the hospital and take up construction of new buildings in place of dilapidated structures. The medicare facilities too have to be improved,” he added.
