Initially, the major beaches in the district including Kozhikode, Beypore, Kappad, Kollam, Bhatt Road, and Godhishwaram will be cleaned and all the minor infrastructural development and renovation works carried out.

The broken pathways, wrecked seating and streetlights mainly at Kozhikode, Bhatt Road and Kappad beaches will be renovated and repaired before August 22. Shattered roofs of rain shelters at all the beaches in these locations will also be repaired as per the plan.

“The shimmering coastline of the district is our cherished possession and DTPC is on its mission to preserve all its beaches to the best possible way,” said DTPC secretary P. G. Rajeev.

As of now, the public facilities like toilets, shelters and cafeteria at some of the main beaches are in a bad condition which will be renovated soon”.

In addition to the renovation works, foreseeing drowning cases, the DTPC has decided to appoint more lifeguards and put security systems in place at the major beaches here during the busy days ahead, besides sufficient warning boards and other cautions.
