VijayawadaExcise and Prohibition department’s district in-charge deputy commissioner Mr Y.B. Baskar Rao said that enforcement activities are being geared up in the district to put an end to the violations.

Mr Rao, who took up charge on Monday, said that there is an inflow of ID liquor from Khammam in Telangana and the illegal activity would curbed as early as possible.
We are increasing the vigil and enforcement to curb the flow of ID liquor into the district, he told the reporters. Mr Rao added that excise and prohibition related cases are mostly reported from mandals like Jaggaiapeta, Bantumilli, Nuzvid, Na-ndigama and Penu-granchipolu of the district.

He said that efforts are being taken to avoid opening of highway facing liquor shops, which is against the new rules. This  also ensures that highway commuters are not attracted to liquor while on the drive, he added.
