Operation Anantha: Final hearing with Biju Ramesh today
A senior official said Mr Ramesh had been delaying the process unnecessarily by demanding more evidence
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The District Disaster Management Authority will hold the final hearing on Tuesday with Biju Ramesh, owner of the beer and wine parlour which is the only critical encroachment standing over the Thekkanamkara canal.
Several weeks have gone by since the revenue authorities exposed the encroachment. Subsequently, a series of hearings were held with Mr Ramesh, but the authorities are still unable to take a decision.
A senior official said Mr Ramesh had been delaying the process unnecessarily by demanding more evidence.
“He is the violator and it’s his responsibility to come up with documents to prove that his property is not an encroachment. His demands are baseless and his latest demand is to bring in the Lokayuktha clerk for the hearing which is out of question. The additional district magistrate will come out with a final verdict very soon,” said the official.
