KOZHIKODE: CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has called upon the SNDP Yogam leadership to rectify its mistake vis a vis its moving towards the BJP.

Speaking after releasing a book at Town hall here on Monday, he said bringing in the disciples of Sri Narayana Guru under the feet of those who believe that the country belongs to one religion was contrary to what the guru preached.

“The leadership of the SNDP is chasing financial interests and nepotism. They should reflect on the stand they have taken because it tells us that they did not need the guru but only his bust. Mistakes should be rectified,” Pinarayi said.

The CPM leader reminded that was the only solution before the SNDP leadership to return back to the original ideals of the guru. In an apparent reference to SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapalli Nateshan, Pinarayi said that some were reminding the CPM that the guru started the renaissance in Kerala even before the birth of progressive forces.

“We never refuted that fact. We have accepted that Sri Narayana Guru had initiated the renaissance movement much before the Communist movement,” he said.

Pinarayi handed over the copy of ‘Guro porukkuka’ book penned by senior journalist A. Sajeevan to M.P Abdusamad Samadani.

Pinarayi hailed the book which he said presents the guru in true light. V.T Balram MLA, historian M.R Raghava Warriyer, actor Joy Mathew among others spoke.
