Andhra Pradesh CM cancels Delhi tour to meet Prime Minister
Naidu had said that he would meet the Prime Minister to press for AP special status
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday cancelled his proposed Delhi visit after his scheduled meeting with the Prime Minister was deferred to last week of this month.
According to Parakala Prabhakar, Advisor (Communications) to the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Prime Minister's Office suggested that the AP CM chose dates from August 25 to August 31 to meet Modi. Naidu had sought an appointment with the PM between August 16 and Auguat 20 and the meeting was initially scheduled for tomorrow.
"There was a scheduling problem. The PMO asked us to choose from August 25, August 28, August 29 or August 31 for the meeting. His tour to Delhi stands cancelled for now," Parakala told PTI.
Naidu had said that he would meet the Prime Minister and union ministers to press for implementation of the promises made to Andhra Pradesh during bifurcation.
The ruling Telugu Desam Party and BJP combine have been under attack by the main opposition YSR Congress, the Congress and the left parties, for not delivering on the special status and other promises, even after coming to power an year ago.
Recently, YSR Congress President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy held a one-day protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of these demands made to Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Naidu who was on a two-day visit to his constituency Kuppam in Chitoor district today, launched several infrastructure projects worth hundreds of crores of rupees, according to an official press release.
